Ok, Jamie that's probably the nurse Pat was referring to in her blog about not to friendly nurse! Today she (her name is Debi or Debra) called me about 11:00 to tell me there was a med error with Dad last night. They'd given him his stimvastatin(sp?) for his cholesterol yesterday morning and again last night. The orders had changed as to the time to give it, and he had gotten it twice. She said it was for his blood pressure--I told her it was for his cholesterol. Anyway, she then asked me if he had had trouble drinking water at home. I told her that I didn't know if he drank much water because they drank coffee 24/7. Well, she said she was going to check him for a urinary track infection (is that the right track? LOL!?!) and that he'd been acting really kind of out of it the last couple of days. I asked her if she'd checked his blood sugar. Yes, it was 70! I'm like---OMG! His always ran around 150! That's TOO low. Yesterday it had been 90. I told her that that was too low again and she was going to check it out. Well, I went down there today and they were both in bed sleeping. Dad roused and I said how are you doing, and he goes --as good as you. I'm like well that's probably not too good. I couldn't understand him at all. Anyway, he goes back to sleep, and I go see the nurse. I asked about his blood sugar--she'd taken it after talking to me and it was 40 something! They gave him a big glass of oj with two packs of sugar in it, and she said it downed it! She'd also told me he had eaten nothing for breakfast but had consumed 25% of his fluids. At lunch he ate nothing, but his sugar was up to 136. Dr. Parten had told her to skip the insulin tonight and give him like a half does tomorrow. I called back down there after supper to check his eating and his sugar. He'd eaten between 25 and 50% of his food and his sugar was 167 (I think, 7--160 something). The young girl that's worked there the whole time told me he'd raised his fists at her today and that he and Mom had a big fight in the cafeteria. The other lady said he'd not been himself the last couple of days. I told her what Pam said about not being able to eat the cookie Sunday and asked that she check that out at supper. He was already back in bed sound asleep at 7:10 when I called! I said well he's been in bed all day! The girl said he'd been up between 4:00 and after supper, but that he was tired and wanted to go back to bed. I just don't know. If he doesn't eat better tomorrow, then something else will have to be done to find the cause. I haven't talked to Mom since she's been asleep everytime I've gone lately. They said today that she'd fallen asleep at lunch and they'd put her in bed after that. She was sleeping like a log! Ok, enough for this blog. It's bogging me down! LOL! Love you all, Jeanie
