Good News!! Mom and Dad got moved to the bigger room yesterday! Jeanie and I drove down around 3 (the nursing home had called and said that they planned on moving them and wanted to know if we wanted to be there). We bought them a new flat screen 26" tv and it's awesome! It was a nightmare to get set up (Jeanie lost a few gray hair!LOL) When we first got there they were both sound asleep but Dad woke up pretty fast and said "Hi Judy, when did you get here?" I was glad he still knows me! I'm always paranoid he won't!LOL He looked really good to me but he definitely has moments of mental lacking! He asked us if the tv cost a dime! He also told me that he had fixed a sandwich (has he EVER fixed one???Haha) Mom finally woke up and she's always a little "staggering" when she does. She had only a diaper on the lower half and she didn't smell too good!heheh Jeanie said it smelled "yeasty" like cheese and I told her thanks for destroying one of my major food groups!heheh She got dressed though and we took them into the dining room to eat. The atmosphere of coming in the front door, down a wide lit corridor and then the big sunny waiting room outside their door is SO much better~! They never said a word about leaving or anything and in fact today when Jeanie and I went back down before my coming home she kept saying "it's so nice here, it's so pretty here, I love it very much, etc, etc. She was more with it today too. Dad was in bed today with his hat on! Mom said "look at him in that bed with his bonnet". I cracked up! Dad said that Ona had been there and she looked so good==way to go Ona! heheh Jeanie and I also took a lamp down and put it on one of the nightstands and it looks much more "homey" in there now. We talked about getting Dad a recliner but realized he couldn't work a regular recliner, which is why we bought the electric and he couldn't work it either. So we don't really know what the point is at this moment. They do have a small love seat in this room and we put it between their beds so they can sit together and watch tv. The people there seem to love Mom and Dad. They had a great girl yesterday and again today. I cut Mom's fingernails too because the girl said that Mom fought her the last time she tried and she was afraid she'd rip a nail off. She let me without a problem and said she would do Dad's. All in all it was a great visit. I am so thankful that this stage is done and they seem genuinely happy there! Well maybe not happy but certainly not afraid or worried about things. They were so afraid at their house before they went down there--Mom of everything and Dad of worrying about Mom leaving. Dad looks rested which is good. I do think they have both gone down physically as far as neither is really walking now at all. Jeanie thought Dad's motor skills weren't as sharp either. He couldn't figure out about his spit cup a few times and spit on himself instead. They were both eating snacks when we left around 10 today. Will see you all soon! Love to all, Judy
