Dad is sooooo much better Jeanie says today! Yeaaa! He was starving around midnight and Jerry got him crackers and applesauce and he scarfed it down. This morning he ate all his breakfast except for his bacon and he would have eaten it but couldn't because he doesn't have his lower teeth. Pam is going to the nursing home this morning to get his teeth and glasses and check on Mom. I figure she's still out of it from the Ativan!! Dad's last report on his potassium was 6.5 which is down from 7.9 in the ER! We thought it was 7.5. As I understand it 8.0 will cause your heart to stop. If they had given the ativan as they wanted to Dad at LNC yesterday morning, Dad would probably have gone to bed, gone to sleep and gone into cardiac arrest. Can we scream SCARY any louder??? Jeanie said the nurse said that if his level gets to 5.5 (I'm sure it will be lower than the 6.5 this next report since they gave him more of the brown nasty liquid to get it off which caused the diarrhea) that they would probably let him get the rest off by himself. Not sure if that means with medication or just let nature do it. Ona as for some of your questions in the previous blog, yes the nursing home has a doctor on staff. Why wasn't he watching his levels is a darn good question from my standpoint. Same as why wssn't someone catching the fact his blood sugars were way too low! Jeanie said she would call me after the doctor comes in this morning if she's there and if she does, I'll post on here. It's going to be hard to "catch up" with all the stuff happening yesterday but hopefully this gives you enough info to "fill in the blanks" or call one of us. Thank goodness Dad is much better is all I can say. A few hundred prayers were answered! Loved to all, Judy
