I think with Jeanie and I, a lot of it is "laugh to keep from crying" which we will all need while cleaning out their house. I dread it! As for the recliner, in order for Dad to sit in it and watch tv, it would have to be in between their beds and I don't think they would let them do that from a safety point, and Mom would be able to watch tv (if she even wanted to) from anywhere but the bed. I personally think that Dad is fine without it and the loveseat makes more sense for them. We can decide on that when we're all together though. Another thing we all need to be thinking about is a DNR order for their charts. They currently do not have one and I personally think they should. If something happened and one of them didn't have a heartbeat, I wouldn't want them to pound on their chest and put them on a ventilator. I talked to Leisa about it since she's the closest I have to a physician in the family, and she totally agreed that they didn't need any heroic measures because it's SO hard on the patient to ever survive anything like the measures they would take without the order to Do Not Resusitate and at their age, even more of a challenge to "get over it". They currently don't have any orders for that and if something, God forbid, did occur, they would do everything to bring them back and keep them alive. We need to come to an agreement on this and just wanted you all to be thinking what you would want. I hate to bring this up, but it has to be done if we don't want them to let them go peacefully if it's their time. Hopefully this is a LONG time off! Jamie would love to know Jerry's thoughts on this since he works in a hospital and has to deal with these issues I'm sure. Love to all, Judy

The DNR order is really important and hopefully everyone agrees and can get that order on their charts.
