Dad has been admitted to the hospital and is in room 3012. The phone number is 870-972-4100. The pass word to talk to the nursing staff about him is "duffelbag". Ona I'm mainly writing this for you since Jeanie called me today and talked to me about Dad. Pam went to the nursing home to visit and found Dad leaving for the hospital, Pat called to see about going to visit and I called Jamie about seeing if she wanted to try to come home sooner. He's better at the moment but his Potassium level got up to 7.5 with 8 being lethal. His creatinin was 5.1 which means his kidneys were working at half. They gave him medication to lower the potassium but unfortunately it works by moving it out of the body through diarrhea. He has had massive amounts of poo so far but hopefully his levels have dropped. We should know more by tomorrow. Pat is at the hospital with Dad till 10:30 or so, then Jerry will stay with him till 5 or 6 tomorrow morning and Jeanie will go back up there. Mom on the other hand got another dose of Ativan today which is a whole other story. That's the drug that zoned Mom out. We are all livid with the nursing home that they let Mom and Dad both get to this point. I'm thinking they'll be moving to another facility if we can get them through this ---yet another---crisis! I'm not swearing to the total accuracy of these numbers but close enough that you get the picture! Love and prayers to all, Judy

  1. Thanks for posting this about Dad. OK this is scaring me!!!!!!!! So as I understand his kidneys aren't working right? What in the world? Is there a doctor at the nursing home or does one just come every once in a while? I'll call and talk to one of you tonight about all of this. Love, Ona

  2. Ona I don't think Dad's kidneys have been totally working right for quite a while. I do know that kidney functions and diabetes are related. The doctor at the nursing home only comes every so often--not there all day every day I'm sure. Hope this helps! Love, Judy
