Hey, just for information's sake: you all tell the funniest stories! I am sitting here laughing out loud because I can picture the episodes! LOL! So funny! Dad's swallow test went fine this morning. He was good today---alert more and definitely awake! The test didn't take any time at all. Wonder how much it cost? LOL! Comparatively a lot, I'm thinking! Anyway, the lady came out and said he did fine. She does recommend that his meat be ground up. She said that as we age we tend to swallow faster and thus choke easier! She said Dad did a good job of protecting his trachea and that was great. She kept talking about softer vegetables and breads, etc. Finally I just asked point blank if she was referring to pureed food. No, thank goodness. Everything else will be normal except for the meats. She was just talking about him not having crunchy type foods. I walked down to the cafeteria and got him a cup of coffee. I told him it was REALLY hot + they didn't have coffee lids. He spilled one small bit but otherwise was drinking and sipping great! I gave it to Kathy to hold on the way back to LNC. I told him that I was afraid the driver would hit a bump and that you'd wind up wearing it. He laughed and said that's right. Ok, I'm fixing to walk Annie before heading back to pick up Grant and Mak. Grant has a baseball game at Nettleton at 4:15---well he has to be there by then. The game is like at 5:30, but Mak has to be at Valley View by 6:15 for basketball pics. Good grief! How quickly we get out of those habits! LOL! Pam, it is hard to go. I just make it part of my routine. I try to go M, W, and Fr around noon. I help Mom eat, visit, and then they take a nap and I drive back. I just have to say that's when I'm going because if I wait until I'm not busy---well---it just wouldn't happen. Oh, LNC called me twice last night. Once at 7:49 for tobacco (I took a small pack this morning for Dad and will take a large one tomorrow) and at 11:37 to tell me they found him on the floor by his wheelchair. He had a small skin tear by his watch; but other than that, he was fine. They'd put him back to bed! My goodness! LOL! Heart stoppers! Love you all, Jeanie
