Pam that would be awesome if you could go once a week on a certain given day because then that would be yet another day we would know someone eyeballed them! I think that's the key to them being safe. As for what would have happened about the bill is that I suspect Medicaid would pay it because almost everyone there is Medicaid! Sounds a lot like fraud to me but that's my skeptic side coming through. Jeanie if you think the volvo description is bad, you should have been with us in the Chrysler! Mom was there too and that was quite a while ago and I still laugh. The stupid car lady kept talking--sounded just like the one in your GPS that makes you mad! It was so funny too because Jamie kept yelling at her to shut up!lol Oh gosh, that was fun!lol Good luck tomorrow Jeanie and it sounds like at least by 10 or so your crazy day will be over! I'll see if Scott can get Bruce a signature! Maybe he has a connection to Calvin! Love to all, Judy
I'm sorry Jeanie for your day today. I just don't know what we would do without you. We all owe you so much. You're just as busy as the rest of us, but you still do all these things for Mom and Dad. I'm sorry I don't get by to see them very often. I have excuses, but you all have them, too, but you all seem to be doing a better job. I need to talk with Jim and come up with a better plan to get me over there more often. Don't give up on me! Love, Pam
You know the funny thing about this morning is that it didn't really ruin my day nor my attitude! Just hit me on a lucky shot, I guess! Dad really was so bad that I couldn't be mad or anything. Tomorrow will be ok. Kathy is going to ride with Dad and I'll meet them there at St. Bernard's a little before 9:00. Grand and Mak are spending the night with us because Jon has a meeting in Little Rock early in the morning. They've been cute. I got a call from Donna saying Dad needs some tobacco. So this will be my morning tomorrow: up at 6:00, shower, get Grand and Mak up, feed them, feed Bruce, feed Annie, give her her shot, take the kids to school, stop by the tobacco store to get tobacco and be at the hospital before 9:00! LOL! We'll see! Good grief! Usually Jeremy drops Macie and Maggie off on his way to drive the bus on Tues mornings. If that's the case it will get real interesting really quickly! Two more to feed, one to dress and one more to deliver! LOL! As for what people do who don't have relatives to look out for them, I can't imagine! Really. I mean, that's a horrible situation for real. Even with all of us checking and asking and telling---stuff still has to be taken care of. Just like the bill for the teeth---$1448.00! It was wrong---no kidding! The girl called me back and was really nice. The billing clerk hit the wrong button and it landed on Dad's billing and not the right one. What if no one was checking? Do they pay and just go on? Sad for sure. Ok, I read Bruce the description of the Volvo and we both laughed out loud! LOL! That is TOOOOOO funny! It's ok, Judy, it can't be helped. I'll order Bruce a signed pic on ebay! That'll be cheaper than paying for gas both ways anyway! Love you all, Jeanie
Hopefully tomorrow is a much better day for you Jeanie--look at this way, it couldn't been a lot worse! At least you did get the bill cleared on the dentures! At least that was something! Good to know that there are still a few people working out in the world who will actually find an answer and give you a call back on it! I did cancel your visit with Calvin Boreil--I hate that for Bruce but I was NOT going alone!lol Jamie, you kill me girl!~ Good thing no one is here watching me laugh out loud! They'd put me in LNC!! Brittney and Frank have the movers coming for their stuff on 3/24 or 3/25. He thought their truck might be too long to ship, but luckily it just barely cleared and they will ship it to Dallas. They still aren't sure about what the plan is for coming here because now they're thinking they might fly to California, rent a car and see the Redwoods and then take a hop to Hawaii since they leave from there everyday. Lord I'm glad I'm not young anymore! It makes me tired just to hear the stories!!! Love to all, Judy
OMG Jeanie what a morning!!! I absolutely can not tolerate inefficiency/stupidity...why would they schedule the appointment and then not make arrangements for the right people to be present...let alone not even have the right place for where the test is going to happen...I'm sorry, but my sailor mouth would have taken over and I would have blown someones hair back with a string of 4,5 and 6 letter bad words while the vein in my forehead bulged and my face turned red!! I realize it wouldn't have changed the situation, but JEEZ... I'm so sorry you have to get up tomorrow and try this again...please Lord let it all be good for everyone involved!! I just keep asking myself...what happens to those elderly people at LNC that have no family involvement? We're pretty much up in their face out there and stuff still happens...scary! When Mom threw her bacon on the floor they were just going to punish her for her bad behavior and not get her anymore? Why would they not open her pudding? They think she's able physically or mentally to do it on her own? These kind of reports, paired with the stress in my life and the fact that I seem to be living off of Sunchips and Graham Crackers, just send me over the edge about LNC/St Bernards/Whoever!!! I hope things go smooth for you tomorrow and I wish I was there to help/go with...soon, very soon.... Jeanie..on a totally different subject...that Terminator cream I was telling you about IS in an orange tube by Acne Free and has just benzoyl peroxide in it...I think it came from WalMart. Hope these things help!! And Judy..yes that old NewYorker in Oklahoma was quite a hoot...that's the car that talked, caught on fire when the engine overheated and had 440 air conditioner: 4 windows down 40 mph!! Memories for sure!!!! We sold it to some teenager and his Dad for a 1000 bucks...heck by that time it had practically been rebuilt!! And now I'm there again with the Volvo...oh well!! Love you all.....Jamie
Let's see if I can give the full visual here! I was up at 6:30, showered, ate, fed Annie, gave her her shot and drove through the rain to Lake City! I actually called LNC to tell them I was on my way for fear of being left! Got there and Dad is HORRIBLE! He's doing that grouchy mumbling about everyone and nothing---sounds asleep in the big room. Go in and feed Mom---that's a different story---then get in the wheelchair van with the nicest young guy named Jeremy! LOL! He was really nice. He told me that usually they do these tests at the hospital---not the imaging center. He went in to check. Yep! It was to be there. He leaves. We go through the thing of getting the bracelet and the whole bit. Sitting waiting. Called him on his beeper. Sorry, but the test is at St. Bernard's--not here. Then they're short-handed at St. Bernard's. Can't do it today! Not good! She goes back and calls. Comes back and asks if he's eaten, etc. NO. Goes back again. Comes back. It is going to be IN THE MORNING at 9:00! WHY? He has to have a speech therapist present when he does the test + they use a special chair where he'll be strapped in---possible arms, too! HUH!?! Anyway, I was NOT a happy camper. They called Medic One for us. Wait, wait, wait. I get back to LNC and talk to Debbie and Mom and Dad again. Leave there at 11:15! Nothing accomplished! NADA! Anyway, Shannon (at the imaging center) assured me again that the test was no big deal. I asked because I didn't want to end up the hospital tomorrow unprepared for ?????! Dad slept the entire time! I mean, head down slept! He finally started waking up about the time we got back to LNC! I don't know if he's not sleeping, what! Checked his sugar. It was 97 this morning, 150 something before we left and 136 when we got back. Mom was in the dining room when I got there, so I went in to visit/sit with her while I waited for Dad to leave this morning. Her bacon was all over the floor, about 1/2 to 2/3 of her yogurt had been eaten and maybe 1/4 of a biscuit. I sat down and fed her the rest of her yogurt, all her jello, and was working on the biscuit when they told me Dad was ready to leave. I asked the girl in there what had Mom eaten. She came over and said Mom had thrown her bacon on the floor---I said I knew that, but what had she eaten. The girl goes all her yogurt and her jello. I said no. I fed her the entire jello (it hadn't even been opened!) and the rest of the yogurt. So what had she been fed? Well, she said I guess the yogurt and part of her strawberry milk stuff. I told her if she'd get someone to feed Mom that Mom would eat the rest of that one biscuit for sure! I went to push Dad to the front of LNC and came by the dining room on the way there. A girl was sitting there feeding Mom. Good. That's silly. Mom will eat. Trust me, she'll eat anything. You just have to feed her. Anyway, I've called the mobile dental group to complain about the dentures Dad didn't get. LOL! The girl (Jada) was really nice and was like I don't understand this. She said that the bill was in the system, but it wasn't in Dad's chart + the only time they'd seen him was in Sept. Ya think!?! She's suppose to be checking and calling me back! Good grief! LOL! Ok, I'm off to start MY day! Hey, it's only 12:30! Jamie, your stories are hilarious! Penis on the felt in your car! LOL! That is insane!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL! Brings you down to Earth real quick! No use being too prissy with that on your car's liner! LOL! Love you all, Jeanie
Jamie your notes absolutely crack me up! I'm sitting here laughing out loud about your trailer trash car in Oklahoma because that was the one where I was going to open the door and the doorknob came off!lol TOO funny!!! I guess I thought by your note that Jerry was driving the suburban, pulling the jeep and you were following with a uhaul!lol I guess I was dreaming!lol Anyway, getting tags is only about $25 isn't it? It is here at least for my car. If it's not much more than that, I don't blame you for not wanting to take a chance and getting a ticket on the drive from there to Kentucky. I don't think it's a problem to drive with Tenn tags in Kentucky for a while--Surely!!! Well if you do buy a new vehicle and need a rider with you, I'm the man!!lol I got a call from Ona today! I had mentioned that I was going to call her on the blog yesterday and she beat me to it. She sounded great! She's so excited for all the new things Randall can do and she told me that she was way past "is he going to survive" and has moved on!lol She said that she thinks they'll be going to Dallas (she had to call someone about it today)in a couple of weeks and will stay there for 6 to 8 weeks. After that, he'll go back probably to Amarillo again for however long it takes before he can go home. Someone is already installing a shower that you either walk straight into or roll a wheelchair into if he needs it and they are making changes to the ranch too because they said it wasn't the same without them there and Ona said they would definitely go back out there too. She said again today that she hasn't even been home now in 7 months since Randall's fall. She sounded good though and I told her that I would pass along her love to all. I'm off to shower myself and go run errands but without rain gear I hope!lol Jeanie is with Dad at St. Bernard's imaging center for the swallowing eval and she'll be posting a note soon I hope. Hopefully it wasn't a bad experience for her riding in the wheelchair van!lol Love to all, Judy
If I go with Jerry and drive the u haul, of course Jason will have the Volvo and we'll share it after I fly back to Fort Lewis...not fun...so I might try and buy a vehicle while in Murray and drive back cross country by myself. We're trying not to buy a vehicle here because we'd have to license it in Tennessee(our home of record) and then because Jerry will no longer be active duty Army in July, we'd have to pay again to reregister it in KY...as it is the tags on the Suburban and the Volvo are due in May...we're probably going to have to pay to renew and then turn around and register and tag them in Ky in July anyway....CRAZY! I need to get on the phone with someone and find out if there's something that can be done so we can avoid this...Jason recommended playing dumb and just ignore everything until we get to KY! I can't do that, my luck I'd get pulled over and pay a triple fine or something that would wind up being more than if I'd just done what I was suppose to do...JUJU!! What we may do is register the Suburban in Kentucky...since Jerry will be there in March and go ahead and renew the Tennessee tags for the Volvo and hopefully be able to be ok in KY until next May when the tags can be registered in KY. The Volvo has turned pretty ghetto though...much like the old Chrysler I drove in Oklahoma! Someone stole the tiny windshield wipers off the lights in the front so there are just rusty little stubs left, the sun roof rattles so loud when you drive it makes you grit your teeth, the arm rest inside has no leather left on it, Jason's friends have drawn pictures and things in the felt on the inside of the roof...you can imagine what! (Jerry got in it the other day and was trying to "erase" a giant penis! I cracked up listening to him gripe about it!) and now there's a huge dent in the back side door to go along with all the smaller dents that happened while slipping and sliding into the side of the garage door in Fort Drum during numerous blizzards...I'm embarrassed to drive the stupid thing, but she runs like a dream!!:) Why do I always wind up with these trailer trash vehicles? It's really funny I think, especially since I'm so particular about things...Whatever!! Ok, I'm off to get dressed in my full rain gear and go run errands...this weather here is the pits!!! Love you all, Jamie

Jamie if you drive across the country in the Volvo (I'm guessing since that's all the vehicles you own I think) and then fly home, what will you and Jason use for a vehicle? I know you talked about getting a new one in Kentucky and driving it back to Seattle. Will you have to drive there alone if that's the case? I'd ride with you and fly home before I'd let you do that!~ At least you have time to work it all out! I'd gladly do that for you though! Love to all, Judy
Well, double WHOO-OOO! I can't believe how many posts on here today! Girls gone wild is all I can say! LOL! Good job! As for the visiting, trust me Pat, I know what you mean. I just have to make a block on some days because it bothers me more than other days. I was hoping though that dropping Dad's insulin would help with him in general. I really hate when I don't understand him because you can see it in his eyes that he knows you can't. That bothers me a lot. I've got to be there tomorrow before 8 for his swallowing test. Judy said it wasn't a big deal, so I'm hoping it goes easily. I can't believe I'll be riding in a wheelchair van from Medic One! LOL! Good grief! I've got to call the mobile dental office tomorrow, too, about Dad's teeth. I got a bill Sat for $1448.00 for upper and lower dentures! Supposedly these were done in July 2010. Well, #1, he has NO new dentures! His are nasty. #2, he was private pay then and NOTHING was to be done without approval---trust me I did NOT approve that! They cleaned his dentures, relined them, and put his name on them somewhere, checked his mouth and that's it, I think. It was $539, I believe. Paid that a long time ago! I tried calling Sat afternoon after 5:00, but there was no answer. Beth called and had me transfer $3.38 from their joint account to Dad's account because the interest was considered income---is that nuts!!!!!!!!!!! I mean, really, let's get real here. I asked her about Mom and she was going to email DHS to see where she stands. She told me that with one of their cases they didn't get an answer for 18 months! I'll go nuts by then! LOL! Jamie I am so sorry that you have all those things going on---moving is never fun. Moving half way across the country in two or more shifts---that sounds like even LESS fun! I cracked up about YOU driving a u-haul across country! LOL! What a mess! Hopefully it will all fall into place easily. That would be awesome if you could get a bunch moved ahead of time---like all that stuff you are so careful with. That would make the final move easier for sure. As for the housecleaning stuff---actually I like it! Sorry, but I do. I just hate not having the time to do it! Doing it keeps me grounded and not going insane! LOL! You'll love your Dyson, Pat. It does such a good job---well I don't have a canister, but I bet it will be even easier to use than the upright! Bless Molli's heart. Tell her I'll be thinking about her Fri. Ok, good job sisters! Love you all, Jeanie
I know the visits to the nursing home aren't any fun but unfortunately it's a necessity to make sure we're as obvious to the staff as possible. I think they get better care that way for sure and the staff does seem to really care about Mom and Dad. Sometimes I start thinking about they've been there a year already and it doesn't seem possible! Makes me realize how fast those months and years fly! 7 months already since Randall fell and Ona still hasn't even been home! I can't imagine that either! Pat, Brittney has a dyson too and she loves hers. I'm with you on the not liking to clean though! It's about my least favorite thing to do--besides go to the dentist and doctor! Off to Leisa's to eat breakfast for supper!lol She's having scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage and homemade biscuits! I think I can eat all that! Love to all, Judy
We went to LNC this morning. They were both in the big room - Mother asleep in her chair and Dad kind of dazed in his. He did know who we were, though. He wanted to hold my hand and then he looked at Jerry and said, "Jerry, how are you?" He really made no sense in what he was saying. Part of it I couldn't understand. Just basically mumbling, etc. One of the girls said that Mother had been awake earlier and that they had done her nails. Nikki checked Dad's sugar while I was there and it was 171. They still have Mother in the room next door, but yet she's out in the population all day - doesn't make since to me! She was pitiful as usual and never really roused while we were there. Anyway, just another normal visit - not fun!
Jamie, I don't envy you the moving! It's hard trying to juggle 40 things at once! I can't even imagine!
Okay, I'm off to take a shower and get ready for another work week! 3 weeks until spring break, and I'm ready. I really need to spend my break cleaning house, but it ain't gonna happen!!! Too many other more fun things to do - like shop! I did break down and buy a new Dyson canister vacuum and so far I really like it. I still don't like cleaning house, though! ha!
love you, pat

Jamie will that be considered as a partial move so the Army would pay you? I think Brittney and Frank talked about partial moves and if you do it yourself, they pay you. Sounds like a great plan! Having Jerome available 24/7 would be awesome and he could be your eyes and ears there for things getting done. I know Jerry will be so wrapped up in his job that he won't be much help to you in Kentucky if that was all you had there. Wow what a caravan!lol Should be interesting. I know it will be hard to be in 2 places at the same time because a big part of you will want to be getting things set up in Kentucky while having to be in Washington. It will all work out though! You're good at details because of all the experience with housing and moving you've had over the past 30 years! Love to all, Judy
Here are my plans as of today...tomorrow, they may be different!! I think Jerome really wants to go with Jerry in March and then stay...maybe try and get a job until school starts in the Fall. He can also supervise any work that I can get ordered as well as do some "jobs" around the house...ie paint, work on the barn, rock around the pond, etc. Jerry will drive the suburban loaded with stuff and pull the jeep also loaded with stuff (mostly Jerome's camping, outdoor equipment) while I drive a u haul loaded with stuff (clocks,3 or 4 cabinets, couch, as much as I can cram in it)...we'll be a parade going cross country...this plan will be a strong possibility only after we talk with transportation this week and find out if we can get "paid" to do this. I'll stay for a couple of weeks maybe...get estimates on enclosing the patio, get rocks ordered, get other estimates on jobs, utilities switched over, etc and then I'll fly back and continue to work on stuff here. With Jerome on the ground, then I really won't need to fly back out there, I could coordinate stuff by phone and with Jerome. Anyway, sounds good on paper, but we'll see. This way, once I get back from this initial trip, then I can really concentrate on stuff here and Jason's graduation and getting really ready to move. March 25th is rapidly approaching and I still feel like I'm just blowing in the wind...ok, off to do laundry and cook porkchops..Love you, Jamie
Jamie I know your life is insane!~ Moving itself is insane and that's not even dealing with the military to get your stuff where it needs to go without tearing any of it up! It's just one more thing that unfortunately you have no control over. Moving with Jerry in March would be SO awesome!!! I know you worry too about something happening and believe me that I worry about it-well maybe just think about it- too that you're sooooo close to being closer and "what if" creeps into my head! I don't let myself go there and just bury the head deeper!!!lol I'm getting pretty darn good at doing that!lol What would you do about Jason though if you left? Would he be able to stay with someone there and finish? You'd just fly back for graduation? Being in 2 different worlds has to be a nightmare but you're going to be able to get it done! You always do!!!Brittney and Frank got a new "4 seater" 4 wheeler yesterday and they are having a BLAST with all the snow. She sent me a picture of Logan, asleep in it, with a big huge helmet and snow on him! Poor Baby!! Skyler loves anything that moves! Kinda like his dad!lol Okay, off to church! Thanks for posting on here sisters! It makes my day!!! Love to all, Judy

Mark me as read it for today! Please don't close the blog...for me it really is my link, although, I apologize, I have been absent this past week or so. I'm trying to get stuff on this end ready for stuff on that end, I'm struggling to stay sane because I want to go with Jerry when he goes in March (and not come back) and I'm trying to stay in the moment with my life here as well. We've been trying to get our loan, insurance and down payment money set up this week as well...no excuse just facts. I will try and do better starting now! I'm so glad they changed Dad's insulin back to where it was pre LNC...JEEZ, no wonder he's been struggling with things! I hope this gets him back on track to feeling/acting more like himself. I worry that I'm so close to getting back home and having things in such a good place and something will happen..I know I can't control it, but it's in my thoughts daily. I'm hoping to get to Murray either in March or April depending on what we find out from transportation this week and whether we can do a split move and be reimbursed. Logistically this is going to be our toughness move ever...lots of balls being juggled at one time and not a lot that can be done until the last minute when everything is at it's craziest. Pat I hope all goes well with Molli...I know she is so scared...Jeanie is right, getting pregnant should be easy and fun, not so nerve wrecking. Ok, I will read and post again tomorrow.....I love you all, Jamie
Well, WHOO-OOOO and Hooray! I LOVE having something to read on here! You go Pat! LOL! I am so sorry that Molli has had to go through all of this. I mean, having a baby is suppose to be easy---right!?! I hope with the next one that she doesn't even THINK about going to the doc for a while. Why the DNC? If she wasn't pregnant, then why does she need that? Bless her heart. I still say a prayer every night for her and Marty to have a healthy baby. They're such a sweet couple. Good for Jerrad! Hey, even better---good for you! Hopefully, it will all settle down to a low roar before the next round comes---and trust me, it WILL come! Love you all, Jeanie
Pat, now THAT is what I'm talking about!!! I don't want anyone to be mad but it makes me feel "connected" to read what everone is doing and what is going on in your life. I love all of you and want to be involved! I'm so glad that Leisa's help paid off for Molli and hopefully the D&C will be the end. Will this get her "number" back to normal? Then she can try again for a baby? Hopefully she'll have one by this time next year! I hate all of this for her and for you too! What school is Jerrod in? That's awesome about his grades! hey the good thing is that all kids eventually grow up! Maybe this will be the answer to a lot of your prayers! Kids are killers!lol Hard to believe that Addison is that old! It seems like she should just be not even a year! Logan will be three in July though and Skyler starts to Kindergarden (is that spelled right?lol I never can remember if it's kindergarden or kindergarten!lol) They will move from Alaska at the end of March and will be in Arkansas sometime during April before going to El Paso at the end of April. Hopefully everyone will get to see them before they head off into another adventure! Thanks again Pat for posting and believe me, it helps me a LOT to feel connected! Love to all, Judy
Okay "Preacher Judy" I do check this blog at least twice a day and NEVER miss. Most of the time I don't really have anything to say, and when I do it's largely ignored! Oh, well! Anyway, I'll fill you in. Molli will be having a D&C on March 4 and she is very nervous about it. Hopefully, this will be the end of a long ordeal. By the way, thank you, Leisa for the info on the medicine. Would you believe she took all 3 doses and the only result was some diahrrea. Supposedly, it was powerful stuff! Jerry & I are going to see Molli spring break, which begins for us on Mar. 18. and I am ready to see her. Jerrod is doing awesome in school! So far, he has done all homework and has made A's on everything he's done. What a turn around! Hoping this is the solution to his job woes eventually. My beautiful baby Addison will be one and a half on Monday. She's adorable! Okay, I'm going to see mom and dad in the morning, so I'll try to write more then. Love you all, pat p.s. don't close this blog - it's the only way I find out about most stuff!
Hey, I'd love to get on here and have something new to read! That would be awesome! In my old age I feel like I'm talking to myself most of the time anyway---the blog seems to be heading in that same direction most days, too! LOL! Seriously, Judy is right. We all want to know what's going on with Mom and Dad. The easiest way to keep up with them is to read this blog IF everyone will post when they know something after a visit or phone call. This way everyone knows what everyone knows and there aren't any surprises of 'I didn't know that!'! A short note of response would indeed be good---that way I know someone is reading the novels I write! LOL! Love you all, Jeanie

I talked to Leisa about the CDiff and she said that sometimes it takes 3 weeks of treatments for it to go away and that they would just do another round of Flagyl and hopefully that would be it. I think that covers the questions. I have to get on a bandwagon here and say that if this blog that I started isn't being read or used as a communication tool, then maybe it's outlived it's purpose and we should just think about stopping it. I had hoped that we could use this to communicate with each other and everyone would know what was going on all the time. I had visions of it being where notes would be made numerous times a day when visits were made or some pertinent information was gathered about them or even just us! When we first started it, there were lots of visits and lots of comments and lots of things posted, but that seems to have come pretty much to a stop. The only way that we all know what's going on and can spread the word to all of us at one time, is to post on here because the phone tags before this blog were not reaching everyone. If you read the blog please at least say "read it" and sign your name so that we can decide if this blog has outlived it's welcome! I hope no one takes this the wrong way and think I'm preaching, cause that's NOT the intent! I hate to give the blog up, that would be just one more line of communication between all of us that we won't have. Love to all, Judy
Today is Fri and I went to check on Mom and Dad. So much to report that I hope I don't forget something. I've talked to Judy and told her if I do to feel free to add to this! Mom still has C-dif. They got the results back last night and have sent them to the doc. Debbie figures they'll give her another round of the same med---flajel (sorry I don't know how to spell this--this is the way it sounds! LOL!). They're only giving Mom 25 mg of seroquel (sp?) at night. That is not why she's sleeping so much. Debbie said it may be related to the AD because a lot of them want to sleep a lot. Mom is getting an appetite stimulant. Eating is NOT a problem. She's still in another room. She'd had a bath and looked so clean. She basically slept through lunch except she ate nearly everything! She roused once to give me an evil look and to tell me to quit hitting her! LOL! I was patting on her. There's still some fire there. They have moved her to another spot in the dining room at night---over by the other end of the window----and they said she eats good in that spot! Hey, whatever works! Debbie thinks Dad may have some congestion in his upper right chest. She's ordered an x-ray to check and make sure after the choking incident earlier in the week. Donna came in and talked to me, too, to tell me that she'd gotten some new orders on Dad last night about 11:00. She was suppose to call me, but she said she didn't like doing that that late. Good! Don't! It would scare me to death! Anyway, they've reduced Dad's nighttime dose of insulin to 10. I'm like it was 10. She's like: no it was 20! I'm like you've GOT to be kidding. Dad took 14 in the morning and 10 at night for years! He's been getting 16 in the morning and 20 at night! When did they change it? I have no idea. That's one call I did NOT get! I told her that that's too much for Dad. No wonder he's been having low sugar problems along with all the confusion! Good grief!!!!!!!!! Dad has the swallowing test on Mon and the lady that rides to Jonesboro with them usually, can't go. I'm suppose to be there a little before 8 to ride in the Medic One van with Dad. I'd planned to meet him here in Jonesboro, but they need someone to ride with him. I have no idea how long this will all take on Mon. I'm planning on most of the day, or at the least all morning!!!!!!!!! Another girl asked me while I was on my way out if it was ok to give Dad some nearly new shirts someone had donated. She said they were the type with the collar and buttons like Dad wears. I told her sure. She said she just had to check with Dad's family first before she could do that! Strange, but ok! At lunch Dad ate most of his food. He seems to have no problem with the eating at lunch when I've been there. Dad did know who I was when Donna asked him my name! That was good. He asked me if I'd seem Bruce today. That was good. He asked where Mother was when I was pushing her behind him. That was good. A lot of the other was confusion----he wanted a cigar, he hadn't done something since Gaston did it, they got caught in a big rain, etc. He was worn out and so ready for a nap, too. Anyway, I think that's it. Sorry for the novel---just a lot when on down there today! LOL! Love you all, Jeanie

I went down to check on Mom and Dad at lunch today. Dad looked good, but obviously the 'incident' was really bad. Everyone down there was talking about it to me. At lunch there were 4 people at their table helping and watching. The one woman (I believe she's the head nurse or in charge of the nurses or whatever her title) told me that half a dozen or so people were standing around crying saying do something. She said it was really scary. She's also ordered some swallowing tests on Dad (they called this afternoon to tell me those were scheduled for Mon morning at around 9:00 at the St Bernard's imaging center). She said they needed to be sure that he could swallow all types of textures so this did NOT happen again. They had already had Dad x-rayed for broken ribs---they had not gotten back the official report, but the technician said he didn't see any. They were all worried to death about him. After he got up from his morning nap, he didn't remember anything about the incident at all!!! Nikki said she was telling him what had happened, and he kept thanking her! Dad had his food chopped at lunch today. That's good. I told Nikki again about Dad's blood sugar functioning best for him around 150. She totally agreed. She said that this morning with it low, he was confused and didn't understand as well--thus wouldn't put in his teeth, which made him not chew, which made him choke. It was a downward spiral. She was sending his Feb blood sugar levels over to the doc to see what they wanted to do---if anything. She said again about making sure he had a snack at night and possibly waking him for another one. I told her if he had trouble swallowing that waking him to eat was probably NOT a good idea! Ya think!?! Anyway, they were all watching him like a hawk. Mom was not really alert, but she ate everything I fed her: ice cream, yogurt, rice, cake, red beans, salad. I didn't feed her the sausage in the red beans because the skin on those things are kind of tough, and her teeth are not that great. She really didn't know I was there, but they said she'd been Mom today. LOL! So I'm guessing she'd been a mess earlier. Ok, I'm off to bed. Love you all, Jeanie
Nikki just called me this morning with ANOTHER incident about Dad. This morning his blood sugar was again low---86. I TOLD her again that Dad functions best at around 150. She totally agrees. Nevertheless, this morning he refused to put in his teeth to go eat breakfast. The speech therapist has been working with Dad because he 'squirrels' away food in his jaw---she said he does this with and without his teeth. Anyway, this morning he got a HUGE piece of sausage down his throat and was choking---had already started turning blue!YIKES---and she had to do the Heimlich maneuver on him!!!!!!!!!! She said it was SO scary! I talked to her about the recent rash of low blood sugars---she also was going to send all the info to the doc and see if they needed to make sure he got a night snack, needed to wake him in the night for a snack or just cut down/out the evening dose of insulin. I said something about the amount of food he took in was related to the amount of insulin he needed---I figure he's not taking in as many calories as he did at the time this was prescribed. Anyway, she said she figured he'd have some bruising around his middle---I assured her that that was OK---I was just glad she was there and strong! I also said something about his meat being cut into smaller pieces---especially if he wasn't wearing his teeth! Good grief!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was going down there at lunch today to check on them today anyway, so now I'll REALLY check on Dad! Love you all, Jeanie

It is the same bear! This is twice that I know of that Dad has had the bear with the intention of giving it to Jamie! What I'm on here to mention is that Donna called and left me a message about two small skin tears on Mom yesterday and one on Dad today. All are small. She went on to say something about critical labs on Dad. Well, I called her back and yes there were labs! This morning between 3:00 and 5:00 they checked his sugar before getting up for breakfast (I'm assuming). His glucose level was 46!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Holy Cow and GOOD GRIEF!!!!!!!!!! I'm like that IS majorly critical! They're back up to 144 tonight and he's acting fine. She sent all the info over to the doctor and is awaiting something back from him. Yesterday or Sunday it was low, too, remember the cookie thing. I'll go back down there tomorrow and will ask about food intake vs insulin----maybe that's the problem. Anyway, crisis averted for now! YIKES! pretty scary! Love you all, Jeanie

The bear to give to Jamie? Is this the same bear that is the one I gave Mom when Dean and I went on our first ever trip to Vegas? That was years ago but Mom always loved it. I knew we took it down there to give Mom something to hold at one time. At least they ate good! I'm glad of that and will take it! I feel like Mom does come alive at times but it's few and far between it seems like. Dad has been confused for a while now. Maybe that's not such a bad thing! Love to all, Judy Oh Jeanie, the mail didn't run today but maybe tomorrow you'll get the letter from DHS. It has to be soon! They are past the 45 days I think!
Bruce and I went to see Mom and Dad today at lunch. Mom does rouse some of the time. They were telling me today that she had been talking big time this morning to them. When we got there they were in the cafeteria---Dad holding the bear to give to Jamie and Mom asleep in the wheelchair. She was aware enough to eat all of her mashed potatoes, a bowl of gravy, all her carrots, ice cream, yogurt, cake and 4 cookies + a carton of strawberry milkshake and her water! No problem feeding all of it to her! LOL! Dad's bloodsugar was low yesterday---they gave him a cookie and then another one. He ate two salisbury steaks plus most of his carrots and mashed potatoes and cake + two of Mom's cookies at lunch! LOL! They both ate good. Mom has med for at least the rest of today for the C-dif---Debbie wasn't sure if she had another day or not. Anyway, they were ok. Dad was at the casino for a lot of the visit and Mom was trying to sleep. Jamie, I told Dad you'd found a house in Murray. LOL! He was mumbling something about you spending his money! LOL! That's good! LOL! I called Beth today to make sure that she'd sent off all Dad's last papers---she had. The info she'd left a message about was the info I had Donna send. That's good. Still no word on Mom yet from DHS! Ok, off to bed. Love you all, Jeanie
Sunday, February 20, 2011
Jerry & I went to see Mother and Daddy this morning. Daddy was sound asleep in bed. Mother was about half asleep in her wheelchair in the big room. She was pretty pitiful today. She had no idea we were there. Every now and then she would rouse and mumble something, but otherwise pretty out of it. Nikki said Dad's sugar had been low this morning, but they had gotten it back up and he was doing okay. Not much to report. Just another sad visit. Love you, pat
Friday, February 18, 2011
Judy and I went by to check on Mom and Dad this morning before she left. They were both asleep, but they both looked good. Mom had had a shower and her hair was still damp. They had only been in bed a short time, but both were sound asleep. We talked to Debbie, and she said Dad ate good at breakfast. He's still confused, and I asked if they'd done a urine sample after his antibiotic to be sure the UTI was gone. They had and it was. Anyway, they were doing ok. Love you all, Jeanie
Tuesday, February 15, 2011
Jeanie and Jamie went to see Mom and Dad yesterday before we left for Murray--I stayed in lobby because the floor was wet and I did NOT want to fall there again! Been there and done that!lol They were both ok. Dad is still confused. Dad at first didn't have his teeth in and he didn't know where they were but they found them soaking. They don't know if he had them in for breakfast or not. He was trying to get out of the bed and they were getting him up when they first got there. He asked where Mother was. She's in isolation room still but he gets to visit. Mom was asleep and they didn't get to talk to her but she looked good and sleeping very peacefully. Jeanie and I will check on them again on Thursday when we come back. If anyone goes before then, please post note for us to read. I did call tonight-Tuesday-and talked to Donna. She said they were doing ok. Dad didn't eat much for supper but had eaten good all day. Mom ate about 25% for supper and she was up and in the dining room with Dad. Dad was helping with making sure Mom had food and water and that's part of why he didn't eat any more than he did. Mom is tolerating her flagyl fine and no more diarrhea. Love to all, Judy
Sunday, February 13, 2011
Called LNC to check on Mom and Dad this morning and Nikki said they were doing ok. She said they were going to let Mom eat in the dining room today because no diarrhea in 24 hours. She said Mom was also going to get her regular food again because she was not doing well with just liquids. I asked again why they were isolating Mom and she said she didn't know since they hadn't done that the last time. We'll try to find out when we visit tomorrow. She said Dad was up most of the night and I said probably looking for Mom and she said no because he had been in there with her off and on. They were both taking a nap when I called. I guess as good as normal for them today. I wish Mom would "perk up" some though because I don't remember her being too animated for a while now. Love to all, Judy
Saturday, February 12, 2011
We're back at Jeanie's! We drove by LNC to check on Mom and Dad. Pam had called me earlier today to say they had been by there and Mom does have CDiff--they had gotten the specimen back and started her on Flagyl already and that they had moved Mom to the room next to Dad's for isolation. Why?? No clue since they didn't do it the last time. Dad was in his wheelchair and pretty out of it really. Said something about a contract in regard to school and pointed at "Margaret Shelton" on her door like he wasn't sure who that was even though he said her name. He tried taking his off the door. He was just confused. We took him to the dining room for supper and Jeanie got him a cup of coffee. Mom was in bed asleep and didn't know we were there. Pam said that they told her that they had discontinued the breathing treatments on Mom since her lungs are clear. The nurse tonight when we were there said that Mom and Dad were doing okay. I just don't like Mom being out of it for what seems like all the time now! We're going back on Monday when Jamie is here before heading to Murray for househunters!lol Maybe we can find out from Debbie why Becky and/or the doctor wanted them separated now when not before. Love to all, Judy OH Pat the tulips were beautiful! They look so cheery in there! Good job!!!

Jerry and I went to Lake City today around noon. They were in the cafeteria - Mother sound asleep in her wheelchair and Daddy in his wheelchair kind of lost looking. I got him some coffee and he perked up a little. He had his teeth in which greatly improves his looks. By the way, Dr. Hendricks really liked Daddy - he's also a big UK fan so they had a lot in common. I do believe he'll go to the nursing home and reline Dad's teeth if needed. I asked Debbie about them. She said Mother had diarhea (never can remember how to spell it - try not to use it much! hee hee). I asked her about the C-Diff (?) and she said she didn't see anything on her chart about it. Who knows? We went to Sam's before we got there and they had these beautiful pots wrapped in pink and red paper with like 9 0r 10 red tulips planted . They were SO pretty, so I took one and put it in their room. I'm sure they won't live long, but hopefully long enough for them to open up good. Daddy thought they were very pretty. Anyway, they were just okay for today - not great, but could've been a lot worse. Daddy's head where he fell looks good. Debbie said it really scared her about him falling. Okay, talk to ya later. love you all, pat

So glad Dad has his teeth!! And Dr Hendricks willing to go to LNC?...you just don't get caring service like that much anymore! What a super person. Glad to hear that maybe they are on the mend! I'm hoping Spring will happen and kill off all the germs. I'd like to see some sun to dry up all the mold and moss growing on my house and driveway...but that's another issue!! I can't wait to see Mom and Dad in 7 days!! Pat and Pam post on here if you go see them...Jeanie and Judy be careful traveling!! Love you all, Jamie

Bruce and I drove to LNC today to check on Mom and Dad and deliver Dad's teeth. Dr. Hendrix did a great job on them and told me he'd go to LNC to reline them if needed. I said, 'You'll go THERE?' He said, 'Absolutely, just let him know!' How nice was that!?! Mom and Dad were asleep when we got there, but I talked to Debbie and she said they were doing good today. Dad had eaten a lot of his breakfast today. Good! Hopefully he'll do better with his teeth! Ok, Judy and I are off to Louisville tomorrow and will check on them on the way. Love you all, Jeanie
Saturday, February 5, 2011
Good report! I'm glad they were up and going. Sometimes the food isn't something they'd like to have---that's just cafeteria food. The mashed potatoes are a good idea, although I swear, she chews anything you put in her mouth. Salad, meat, whatever! I don't know how with her teeth like they are, but she doesn't act like they bother her! GOOD! Dad's head was awful. It was such a HUGE place! UGGGGH! The good news here is that Dad has always healed really quickly---even with diabetes! Ok, off to bed. FULL day tomorrow and Mon----tomorrow is 'cooking for the fam' day and then the Super Bowl Party at the fairgrounds for St. Jude. Mon---so many errands and gathering! The Jeep best be a hauler! LOL! Love you all, Jeanie
Pam called me today to let me know she had been to see Mom and Dad and that they were ok. They were clean and sitting at the table waiting on their food. When it came, Dad ate at least 50% she said and drank the same. Mom ate good a few things one of which was her yogurt! I was so happy to hear that my plea had been heard! Yeaaaa! She ate her sherbert, some beans, etc. Pam asked why they don't give Mom mashed potatoes and things like that since her teeth are so horrible. The lady beside Mom had them but Mom didn't. They had some goulash stuff and Mom just didn't like it I think. At least they were ok! Pam said Dad's head looked horrible but they were doctoring it since he had some cream on it. I'm going up Monday and Jeanie and I will see them either Monday or Tuesday before heading to Louisville. We'll post a note. Love to all, Judy

I went to LNC today to check on Mom and Dad. They were both in bed asleep! They both looked good---so clean and resting, etc. I talked to the two girls that really seem to like Mom and Dad for quite a while. They were both so upset over Dad falling! The one said she'd told them to let him sleep and not get him up if he's sleeping. She said that when she's worked over that Dad will stay up with her the whole time! Anyway, they were so nice. They told me today he was really tired and didn't want to get up for lunch. They tried twice and he'd just pull the cover back over himself. They finally just went to get his tray and brought it to him. They said he ate about 50% of his lunch and drank about 50% of his fluids. The one said that she asks for them to give him the ground up chicken, etc because she knows how hard it is for him to eat with just top teeth. I told her I'd bring the bottom ones down there before lunch Mon if they were ready in time. Anyway, they genuinely seemed concerned and caring about them. Mom had had a shower today and was in a really good mood they'd said. Anyway, it was nice to get such a good positive feeling from those two women. Ok, off to sew. Love you all, Jeanie

Pat I laughed out loud when I read your note about Pam's bright spot in Dad's hospital stay. I've thought of that a couple of times and it always makes me laugh!lol TOO funny!! You might as well join the current trend and sign yourself up for facebook instead of going through Molli's! It's really interesting to see the comments some people put on here and I love the pictures! Cary Beth's notes always crack me up! She's so funny!!!lol Love to all, Judy
Okay, not much more for me to add than Judy and Jeanie have posted. Dad did look pitiful! The only time he really woke up was when the Dr. came in and pulled the band-aid off of his nose! Daddy came alive and tried to hit the Dr. I said, "Sorry, about that, but he's not himself!" Also the nurse came in to remove the patches on his chest and finger and he didn't like that at all, either. I stayed with him until the amubulance people wheeled him out . I was totally depressed after that , so I went shopping!! Yeah, just what I needed! Anyway, I was glad his tests came back fine. I sat there reliving his last hospital stay and decided if they admitted him that I was leaving town! hee hee! The only bright spot of that hospital visit was Pam saying, "Now, James, you lay down!" Oh, my gosh, I've laughed so much about that! That was just too funny! Unfortunately, the rest of that nightmare was not too funny. The first thing Jerry said was, "I hope they don't have to admit him!" He and Bruce had some fun times with him in the hospital, too. Okay, enough rambling from me. By the way, Jeanie, you and Ona and I are the last 3 holdouts on facebook now that Pam has entered the race! I sign in on Molli's so I can read everyones entries! Works for me! love you, pat
Oh and Pat took Dad's teeth by Dr. Hendrix (not sure but I think that's his name-the dentist in Jonesboro) and he said yes he could fix Dad's teeth and they would be ready on Monday! Yeaaaaa. Jeanie and I will go there on Tuesday for sure if not on Monday on our way to Louisville. I'm so anxious for him to get them back cause talking and eating both have to be a problem without teeth! Love to all, Judy
I'm going to call this a temporary blog till Jeanie and Pat give the whole story, but in case Jamie/Pam and/or Ona read this anytime soon, here is what I know. LNC called Jeanie about 5:30 a.m. and said that they were taking Dad via ambulance to the ER because he had fallen. Jeanie said they didn't even ask about whether or not we thought he should go, so Jeanie figured this couldn't be too good. She and Bruce went up there and she said Dad looked awful. He had a big bump on his head that was bleeding and I think she said his wrist was bleeding. They did the CT scan which came back fine. Jeanie had to keep Macie at 8, so Jerry Denton went up and then Pat came too. Jeanie said she and Pat neither one thought he even knew they were there because he slept the whole time. Jeanie was going to call down there to see what time they get them up for breakfast and if that was why he was up at that time of day. He's just exhausted I think. Jeanie said he was curled up in a ball and they just couldn't stand to even look at him because he has been through so much and he was pitiful. After he went back though, Jeanie called and talked to Debbie and she said he was doing fine. He had eaten a good lunch and everything, like nothing was wrong. They had ordered some ointment for his head and wrist. Mom is still doing good and taking breathing treatments. I called down and talked to the dietary department and told them to make sure that Mom had yogurt every meal. She said she would. Does that mean it will be done??? NO. They are just having a hard time right now with this plus the sickness they have been having. Jamie we're all scared to death that something will happen before you get here but you know it's out of all of our hands. It will just be whatever it is! I pray you'll be here for many months before anything bad happens! Love to all, Judy
Hey, you ruined my husband with baked potatoes! He can NOT eat them now without the broccoli! LOL! Too funny! I am excited about the house hunting and have been checking the MLS listings for the last couple of weeks. There are some that look really promising---from all price points. It'll be interesting to see them in person---location, actually look, etc. I LOVE houses! Whoo-oooo! Jeremy's getting his real estate license. Starts classes this weekend. He asked me if I'd go show one if he couldn't---yes, with some reservations! I'm pretty much a chicken anymore about a lot of things and one is locking myself in a house with people I know NOTHING about! LOL! YIKES!!!! Fara took Macie back to the doc today. The doc said: she's one sick baby. Well, no DUH! They gave her a big shot today. She takes another one tomorrow and then a third one Sat morn! Now it's ears, chest, kind of everything! I don't like it.
I got on here to write about Dad. LNC called this morning at 5:22 to say that Dad had fallen out of his wheelchair. They said he'd been up late yelling and was still sleepy. Anyway, he fell, hit his head, cut his nose with his glasses and scraped his wrist. They were sending him to the ER. Well, Bruce and I went to meet them and his head looked like he'd been hit with a baseball. He had a pump-knot and an abrasion on the top of his forehead/toward top of head. He had a bandaid on his nose. His color looked good, but he never woke up---was sleeping the whole time. They did a CT scan to check for bleeding, skull fracture, etc. I called Pat because we had to be back here by 8:00 to give Annie her food and shot + Macie was coming for me to keep today. Jerry got there about 10 or 15 to eight and Pat came shortly after. They stayed with Dad until the doc came and talked to them and the ambulance came to take him back to LNC. The doc said he was fine. Good grief! Pat then came and got Dad's teeth and took them to Keith Hendrix! YEA PAT! Dr. Hendrix said he could fix them and they'd be ready Mon morning! THAT IS AWESOME!!!! Thank you Pat SO much! I called about 2:00 to check on them, and Debbie said that he'd eaten his snack + ate a good lunch. Mom she said is 'not out of the woods yet', but she's doing better. Mom doesn't like the breathing treatments nor taking the antibiotic, but that falls under the 'tough tittie' rule! LOL! Anyway, they were both doing ok. Debbie called me back to tell me they'd gotten new orders on Dad: to doc the places with ointment and to take another urine sample when he finishes his med Fri morn---that's his last dose---Fri morn. Ok, I think that's it! We need some sunshine to burn through all these germs that are around, I swear! LOL! Love you all, Jeanie

I hope they give Mom the yogurt...I hate stomach issues related to meds!! Thanks for keeping on LNC about this Judy! :) Thanks for Brittney's address...I hope they can come, but understand if it doesn't work out...it will be a sad day for sure! Frank is a SGT right? That's what I sent to Jerry with the address...let me know if that's wrong and I'll change it! Getting excited about house looking...the realtor sent info on 2 more houses today...I just hope the weather is somewhat good!! Jeanie I hope Macie is better...she's been sick for awhile now...poor thing!! Hope all is well with everyone....I'm making chicken and dumplings and they smell so good...I'm having baked potato with microwave broccoli...Bruce and I's favorite!! Love you, Jamie

Leisa said that the Levaquin was the drug of choice for treating outpatient pneumonia but that the yogurt was great to try to keep the gut bug away. I called to check on them today and asked Nikki about if she was getting the yogurt and Nikki said she didn't know but that she would be there for supper tonight and she would make sure she had it tonight for sure. I'll check with Debbie tomorrow to ask about it from her shift. Jamie, Brittney's address is 1132 Ungava Ct, Fairbanks, AK 99701. I had mentioned to her that I would love for them to try to get to come to the change of command and she said she'd check on hops. Love to all, Judy
Is there not a different drug that would be kinder for the system...something sulfur based that wouldn't have so many side affects? To be honest, I've never even heard of this drug let alone for pneumonia. Why not a z pack or something...fewer days and potent? I am glad they are so much better... Thanks for the posts!! Judy, what's Brittney's new address? I wanted to send them an invitation to the change of command...I know they won't be able to make it, but thought they might like an invite. I put all my sisters on the invite list as well...again, just as a keepsake! I'm off again..I just got home, ate something real quick and back out the door for a Red Cross function...house hunting in Murray is starting to sound like a vacation! Love you, Jamie
Tuesday, February 1, 2011
The medicine is Levaquin. I think that's the proper spelling. Leisa hates this drug because they see a lot of patients who are ill from being on it with gut issues. That's the reason for the yogurt. Debbie said she would make sure it was on her tray. I asked Jeanie to check when she was there to make sure she really had it. Those antibiodics that kill all the flora in your gut can be horrible. Been there and done that!lol I'm just glad they're both better. I don't like the thought of them sick and Jeanie and going to Louisville and then us plus Jamie to Murray for a week or at least part of a week. Love to all, Judy
Quick note. Debbie called this morning and they're starting Mom on an antibiotic for a touch of pneumonia. Judy can tell you the name of the drug. I've already marked it off my list of things to remember. Judy called Debbie and told her to be sure and give Mom yogurt with this one. She'll take it 10 days. I asked how she was today, and Debbie kind of laughed and said: she's back to being her old self! LOL! Which means Mom's a mess. Good! She said Dad was doing good today, too. Good! I called Dr. Hendrix about Dad's teeth and am taking them in to him in the morning between 7:30 and 10:00. I asked IF they couldn't be repaired could they make him some new ones from the old ones. That's all a wait and see thing. Anyway, busy, busy, busy! Love you all, Jeanie
