Well thank you Ms Moore for knowing I have AD, which means that you don't since you're so smart~!~~LOL. I have talked to my kids too but of course we who know and love Leisa so much know that she thinks it's quality over quantity and that means she'll pull my plug if I get too bad! LOL (If you're reading this Leisa, you know I'm kidding, right???LOL) As for AD and whether any or all of us will get it, isn't something we can worry about or we sure enough will get there! Vitamins, Boysenberry jam, coffee, Diet Mountain Dew (let's hope!) might help keep us from it but it's a crap shoot in picking which will or will not help in my opinion. I personally plan to continue down my road as I am and if I get it, you will have to deal with it and not me because I'll be in a world of make believe!LOL My guess is that Mom doesn't worry about any of this nearly as much as we all do. Alzheimer's is a terrible thing but as much or more for those of us who don't have it as those who do. We'll all get through this one way or another! I love you all! AD or not!!!LOL Judy
Hey, Jamie, we ALL worry about the AD thing! LOL! There are many days and times I think---ok, this is it---I have it! LOL! Of course, if you THINK you have it, you don't! Supposedly! I know Judy does! LOL! Anyway, there's no way to even know for sure that that is what Mom has. That can't be determined for sure until they perform an autopsy! We don't really want that! I have talked to my kids, too, about what they can and should do---not what I want necessarily, but what's best for them and me. Hey, if I make it to 90, I'll be impressed! For me it's a moot issue! I don't figure I'll ever make it that long! WAY too many gray hairs and gray hair causes already!@!!! Love you, Jeanie
Am I the only one that worries that I'm destined to travel down the same road as Mom? Some days I swear I'm about 2 minutes from needing to join them there!! I've been reading some stuff about ginkgo, estrogen and anti inflammatory steroids and scientists studies on their effects on alzheimer's symptoms. Nothing really conclusive. The neuro doc that discussed Mom's cat scan with us said he didn't think Mom had the familial/genetic type of alzheimer's right? So that means it's a crap shoot...we could or could not develop alzheimer's ....I don't fly by the seat of my pants very well...I'm a planner and this whole thing really bothers me on SO many levels!!! It's made Jerry and I think about some preplanning and I've even talked to my boys about it some....although they don't want to hear it!! Sorry...I'm just having a PMS moment and randomly thinking and typing!!! :)
Well it sounds like they are pretty much status quo though since Dad obviously seems the same as Jeanie's seen him all week. I hope I'm not totally sick when I see them tomorrow. I'm happy for Mom that she's in her own little world though and it seems to be a world she's okay with. As for Dad and his mental status-not sure that he's too with it since he thinks he drove all night!~ I hope his world is as good as Mom's~! I know that we all hate it but at the same time I keep reminding myself that they are so much better off than when they lived at home. Will write when I get home on Tuesday for everyone to see. Love to all, Judy
You're right, Pat. It is SO hard and the right thing at the same time! UGGGHHHHHHHH! As for Dad maybe being depressed, I've thought about that myself. I talked to Judy today and when she goes back on Tues, we'll ask the social director about involving Dad more in activities! Bless everyone's heart on this! Love you all, Jeanie
