I thought Dad was already teaching school in Gideon before he left for WW2. I know Ona was born in Miss Gertie's house across the street from our Gideon house... When Dad was drafted he left Missouri to go back to Clay in hopes he's be sent out with Kentucky boys he knew. So he had not completed college prior to WW2....what was he doing in Gideon then? I know he worked at the mill...I thought that was at night to help make ends meet. Did he go there with Gaston? Did Gaston ever work in Gideon? Keep those answers coming!! Love you, Jamie

OKAY!!!!! I finally can post!! Let's see how long that lasts! Long time, no see! hee hee! I have tried to post on here everyday, but for some reason it has not let me. Hope everyone had a great Christmas and has a "Happy New Year", too. Molli and I went to see Mom and Dad today. When we got there, they were already in the lunchroom. Dad acted very strange and said he was "sick". I noticed that his teeth were in crooked, so I got one of the girls to fix them. He then seemed to get a little better, and I got him some coffee. Debbie said that he had gotten up "real" early, but hadn't been sick. Mother was not very good. She was sitting in her wheelchair and sort of mumbling like she does. I put my arm around her and just sat there patting her and she said "I love you". She talked a little, but nothing coherent. Also, when Molli and I were leaving, I backed into a woman and the back passenger side of my little car looks rather pitiful! Yeah, lucky me! Don't know yet how much the repair will be, but at least it's driveable! Great way to end the year! Okay, about all Jamie's questions. The only thing I know for sure is that Pam and I were born in Nov. 1951 - that I'm sure of! ha! I remember Mother saying we were about 9 months old when we moved to Gideon. Also, it seems like Mother always said her Dr. at Murray was Dr. Jones, but I may be wrong about that. I know that Uncle Gaston had taught at Gideon before returning to Kentucky and that the school thought that it was him returning.
ReplyDeleteOh, another thing. Molli and I were sitting with Mother and Dad at lunch and this girl named Lisa (Molli had gone to high school with her) was trying to feed this man at the next table and he didn't want to eat. She told him "If you don't eat, they're going to put a peg in your belly." Molli and I both looked at each other and thought the same thing-rude! I told Molli that I'd better never hear someone say something like that to Mom or Dad. It was pitiful. She finally just got up and walked off and the man started eating on his own. I came very close to complaining, but I didn't say anything this time. There was another girl there today that I didn't know, but Molli and I both thought she was very nice. She talked about how sweet Dad was with Mother. Anyway, I guess I'll quit rambling for now. Hopefully, I have the kinks worked out with my "posting" problem. Love you all, pat
